The Major Mosquito A team was one of 16 entries in the Trevor Barton Memorial Tournament in London on the weekend of June 9 - 11. With four pools, only the top teams from each pool would go on to play in the semi-finals on Sunday.
The first opponent was the entry from WOBA, who are an all-star team out of the Western Ontario Baseball Association loop. Pitted against each other in a pitching match up and incredible defensive play, Stouffville came out on top 4-1.
The second game was on Saturday morning against an Oakville team that normally plays in a AA loop. The bats were hot that morning as Stouffville slammed Oakville 23-11. Needing one more win to secure a berth to Sunday's semi-finals, the last match was against Newmarket. A team that in regular season they had already split the series at 1 game apiece. Stouffville ended the game early with a mercy 12-1 over Newmarket.
At 3-0 from Pool A, Stouffville was set to line up with the winner from Pool B on Sunday morning in the semi-finals. Lasalle was dispatched quickly by Stouffville 21-4. The other semi-final had Simcoe beat Clarington 7-6 in extra innings.
The final was set for Stouffville and Simcoe to square off. The game started very even, with Stouffville holding a 3-0 lead after two innings. The bats were alive, but the gloves were also. Eventually a couple of booted balls by Stouffville's defence led to the loss. Simcoe won handily 17-4, as their defence was excellent, and Stouffville's defence was not on point in this game.
A terrific showing for the full weekend by the Stouffville Yankees. Every player in the line up was swinging a hot bat. Terrific defence helped out great pitching for a great time at the London tournament.
Team: Justin Brauer, Hunter Folkes, Hunter Hause, Nathan Marincola, Keenan McClelland, Josh McGovern, Gianluca Montanaro, Nathan Onlock, Logan Sitlani, Ronan Torres, Nathaniel Yee
Coaches: Sean Folkes, Chris McClelland, Shawn McGovern, Pete Onlock, Sherri Lee (Manager)
