The AAA Minor Mosquito Stouffville Yankees battled hard in the Mississauga Majors open July 14/15 to take home the championship.

After a bumpy start to the tournament the boys dug deep in the scorching heat to finish strong. The run started with a 13-1 victory over Brampton on Saturday afternoon. Dayne Chapman threw a complete game no hitter with one unearned run on an error. The bats came alive as well and after getting up early on Brampton, the boys never looked back.

The Semi finals were played against a tough Mississauga Majors squad who took the first game round robin game over the Yankees. With Noah Glenn on the mound for the semi's and the bats still grooving they took an 8-0 lead going into the bottom of the 7th. Zac Karanopoulos closed out the game in great fashion against a desperate Majors squad looking to make a come back. The Majors started to claw back with three runs but Zac quickly closed the door and took the victory.

The championship game had the Stouffville Yankees taking on the Leaside Leafs for the title. The Yankees took a 5-0 lead in to the bottom of the second but the Leafs would not go quietly and battled hard to close the gap to 5-4 heading into the third. After scoring three more in the top of the third to give the Yankees the 8-4 lead, Logan Stuteley came in to pitch. Logan pitched 5 innings strong only allowing 2 runs with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts leading the Yankees to a 9-6 championship victory! Great defensive plays made by Zac Karanopoulos and Ethan Reason in the late innings that kept the Leafs at bay and secured the win.

Congratulations to Logan Stuteley for taking home the championship game MVP award!

Bravo to the whole team!
