- What is the difference between Select, Rep, and Elite baseball?
Select, Rep, and Elite are three distinct levels of competitive baseball.
- Select: Serves as a bridge from House League to competitive play. Players can expect one practice per week, weekend games, and 2-4 tournaments per season.
- Rep: A more competitive league, typically with AAA, AA and A teams. Players can expect one or two practices and 1-2 games per week, plus 2-4 weekend tournaments and playoffs.
- Elite: The highest level of competition, featuring the top teams and players across Ontario. Elite runs 15U, 16U and 18U programs.
- When and where are the tryouts?
The complete tryout schedule, including dates and locations, will be posted on our website by the end of August. Tryouts will begin the week after Labour Day weekend and continue through September. Rep tryouts will be held first, followed by Select tryouts. Tryouts for 14U+ AAA after July 1st, Tryouts AA and below after labour day.
- Is pre-registration required?
Yes. All players must pre-register and pay the tryout fee online via credit card before attending.
- What is the fee to tryout?
A one-time fee of $30 is required. This fee covers all tryouts for the player’s age group. If a player is not selected for a higher-level team (e.g., AA), they can attend the next tryout (e.g., A or Select) without paying again.
- Do I need a release to attend tryouts?
- Players within the YSBA do not require a release.
- Players from outside the YSBA must follow the official YSBA Release Policy.
- How many tryout sessions must my child attend?
We recommend that players attend a minimum of two (2) tryouts to ensure a full evaluation. However, a coach may sign a player after one tryout if necessary. If you cannot make all the scheduled dates, please discuss this with the head coach at the first session you attend.
